Cahuita National Park Costa Rica showcases a gorgeous stretch of pristine, isolated beachfront sandwiched between dense forests and coral reefs offshore. The park is actually a long sliver of land that stretches all along the Caribbean coast south of Limon.
Deciding where to stay in Cahuita National Park Costa Rica is as low stress as Cahuita itself. Cahuita National Park Costa Rica s is not noisy resort country, but rather a laid back Caribbean paradise where people go to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Accommodations range from the very modest and budget friendly cabinas up to comfortable, moderately priced inns and lodges.
In the city of Cahuita itself, the Atlantida Lodge remains one of the best bets. The rooms are on the small side but are comfortable and bright. The pale stucco walls, red tile floors, and bamboo trim give a rustic feel to the Atlantida, and every room comes with a small patio facing the lodge’s lush gardens. The beach is just steps away, and a wide range of tours and adventures can be arranged on site.
The Chalet Hibiscus is perfect for longer stays in Cahuita National Park Costa Rica. A collection of separate cabinas and homes in a safe, gated area provide everything from the bare basics to a luxurious two bedroom home with a spiral staircase. The prices at the Chalet are reasonable and the beach is just a short bike ride or walk away.
Like Chalet Hibiscus, El Canto Bed and Breakfast offers a collection of cabinas and small homes located in Cahuita city, the first place a traveler going south from Limon encounters when entering Cahuita National Park Costa Rica.
Unlike Chalet Hibiscus, El Canto serves hearty daily breakfasts as part of the standard room rate. Other amenities include a meditation room, a small gazebo, and an open-air massage room.
At the far end of Playa Negra in Cahuita National Park Costa Rica, the Magellan Inn offers the sophistication of a boutique hotel with carpeted rooms, tiled bathrooms, and personal verandas outfitted with Persian rugs and wicker furniture. The pool is surrounded by tropical gardens and is built into the ancient coral reef that lies beneath the entire area. A great place to bird watch or get away, Magellan Inn is affordable and exotic at the same time.
On the budget side, Jenny’s Cabinas, Cabinas Arecife, and the Alby Lodge all provide clean basic lodging at very low prices. Meals are not included, although at the Alby a communal kitchen is open to any and all who want to cook for themselves.
Jenny’s offers the best budget view of the ocean and has been popular with backpackers, eco-tourists, students, and assorted ex-pats for years, making it a great choice for anyone looking to meet new people. The most expensive rooms (which are still affordable) are located on the second floor, providing added privacy and a better view.
