Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas

Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas

The Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas are lively, varied, and affordable. Whether you are looking for budget accommodations or one of the more luxurious Costa Rica hotels, you’ll find that many of the Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas will meet your needs without emptying your pocketbook.

The town of Puntarenas is located on the northern Pacific coast on the Gulfo de Nicoya, a short boat ride away from the Nicoya Peninsula. Any of the Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas make a great base for planning your exploration of the western beaches and national parks, and there are many, so it pays to spend a night in Puntarenas plotting your itinerary.

One of the most popular moderately priced Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas is the Hotel Las Brisas, located near the end of the Paseo de los Turistas. The Hotel Las Brisas has large air-conditioned rooms, a small pool for guests, and a restaurant that serves local dishes, Mexican fare, and Greek fish specialties at affordable prices.

Another moderately priced choice of Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas is 1950s-style Hotel Tioga on the Paseo de los Turistas. The Hotel Tioga is right across from the beach, and is close to lots of great local restaurants. Rooms are large and clean and come in two price levels, with the less expensive rooms providing cold showers only. The Hotel Tioga is one of the more popular Costa Rica hotels because of its colorful décor and great location.

If you are on a tight budget, the Hotel La Punta is a cut above most of the other budget hotels (which are sometimes not so nice). The Hotel La Punta is not priced as aggressively as a hostel or a backpacker’s accommodations would be, but it’s still inexpensive, clean, and comfortable. Rooms are small and simple. Air-conditioning costs a little extra but is recommended.

Any of the Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas can arrange guided canopy tours, national park tours, and diving trips to Isle del Coco, one of the prime diving destinations anywhere. The Paseo de los Turistas, around which many of the Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas are situated, is an old-fashioned beach that is reminiscent of Florida in the 1950s, and is itself a pleasant stroll and more than worth some exploration.

The Costa Rica hotels in Puntarenas are also great places to map out your tour of some of the dozens of fabulous white and black sand beaches located along Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. The western coast of Costa Rica is one of the most desirable tourist destinations on earth, and it all begins here, in Puntarenas. Choose well, and enjoy!
