How to find Costa Rica Hostels

A trip to Costa Rica doesn’t have to break the bank. Every year, thousands of students, backpackers, and budget travellers visit this tropical paradise and stay in clean, affordable Cost Rica hostels or arrange for Costa Rica budget accommodations at discount hotels or backpacking or camping facilities.

Costa Rica Hostels typically provide a clean bed with linens (sometimes a bunk or a bed in a communal room where others also sleep), a shared or private bathroom, a locker, hot water, and frequently, air conditioning and internet hook ups as added ‘perks’. As Costa Rica hostels and Costa Rica budget accommodations become more competitive, many are also beginning to offer extras such as swimming pools, TVs, and double or queen sized beds, and other small conveniences.

The cost of staying in a Costa Rica hostel typically starts at right around $10 per night and rarely exceeds $20, but reservations are appreciated, especially during peak tourist season. If you are travelling extensively during prime vacation time it’s best to reserve Costa Rica hostel accommodations in advance in whatever areas of the country you plan to visit. A travel agent can book Costa Rica hostel accommodations, or you can do it yourself at www.hostel.com or www.hostelworld.com.

One of the biggest perks of backpacking Costa Rica and staying in a Costa Rica hostel instead of a hotel is the opportunity to meet other travellers from all over the world. Staying in a Costa Rica hostel is an especially good choice for younger travellers and students, not just because of the huge monetary savings, but because it’s a great way to meet other young people with similar interests and to just have a generally terrific time.

Staying in Costa Rica hostels and travelling on a limited budget also brings the new or seasoned traveller into more direct contact with Costa Rican native cuisine, Costa Rican wildlife, and the Costa Rican people. Not all Costa Rica hostels are rough and primitive either. Some common upscale features (though not standard to all hostels) include currency exchange services, secure key card entry, on site restaurants, luggage storage, card phones, internet hook-ups, and Wi-Fi.

Costa Rica is not only home to one of the most varied and fascinating ecosystems in the world and some of the most rare and fascinating wildlife species, it also boasts many of the most gorgeous, most pristine beaches anywhere on the planet. Unlike other exotic travel destinations, Costa Rica hostels make all of this luxury and wonder accessible to rich and poor alike.

No matter what your budget or itinerary, Costa Rica hostels can help you safely have more fun for much less money, turning a week’s stay into a month’s stay or possibly even longer. Check out some of the Costa Rica hostels online and see if staying in Costa Rica hostels isn’t an option that can make your already exciting Costa Rica vacation into an unforgettable one.
